The Winter Car Emergency Kit

Sparkle Farms Winter Emergency Kit

You're a part of the Sparkle Farms family, and we want you to stay safe when you're driving around this winter. This week's What's in Your Pouch Wednesday items won't all fit in the Sparkle Farms pouch, but I wanted to share them because it's really cold this winter, and I want everyone to be prepared! According to the National Safety Council, these are the minimum things that you should have in your car for the winter:

  • Cell phone charger
  • Fresh antifreeze
  • Blankets, mittens, socks and hats
  • Ice scraper and snow brush
  • Flashlight, plus extra batteries (or a hand-crank flashlight)
  • Jumper cables
  • First-aid kit (band-aides, adhesive tape, antiseptic wipes, gauze pads, antiseptic cream, medical wrap)
  • Bottled water
  • Multi-tool (such as a Leatherman Tool or a Swiss Army Knife)
  • Road flares or reflective warning triangles
  • Windshield cleaner

All of these items should be stored in a plastic tub in your trunk so that they can be easily and quickly accessed. If you live in an area with extreme winter conditions, or for additional information on cold-weather driving and supplies, please follow this link to the Farmer's Almanac website.

What do you keep in your car for emergencies? I would love to know. Please share in the comments section.
